    Sometimes you will READ what an interviewer and an applicant say.   Sometimes you will HEAR it. Sometimes you will tap or click on "SPEAK". LISTEN to what an interviewer and an applicant say in a job interview. CHOOSE if it is GOOD or BAD. [the applicant = the person who is looking for a job                        = the person who is applying for a job]    [the interviewer = the supervisor or manager who asks questions in a job interview] -------------------------------------------------- example 1   Interviewer:  What are your skills?                     Applicant:  I'm good at taking care of children, cooking and cleaning. ------------------------------------------------------------- example 2   Interviewer:  What are your strengths?                     Applicant:  I'm a fast learner.  I'm hard-working, and I have a lot of energy. [You should say two or three strengths.  Don't say MORE than three.] ------------------------------------------------------------ example 3   Interviewer:  What are your weaknesses?                     Applicant:  I'm working hard to improve my English. [You should say only ONE weakness.   "Weakness" is the OPPOSITE of "strength".    DON'T say, "I'm not honest."  or  "I'm late sometimes."] --------------------------------------------------------------- example 4   Interviewer:  Why do you want to work here?                    Applicant:  Because I love this kind of work, and I                                      like your store very much. INTERVIEWER: Tell me about yourself. APPLICANT: I'm from Eritrea originally. I've been in Canada for two years. I have Canadian work experience. I worked at Superstore as a cleaner for a year. I'm very good at cleaning. I'm hard-working, friendly, and always on time.
GOOD
The interviewer says, "What are your strengths?" The applicant says, "I'm honest."
BAD
The interviewer says, "Why do you want this job?" The applicant says, "I want to get this job because I really like this kind of work and I want to get more Canadian work experience."
GOOD
The interviewer says, "Do you have Canadian work experience?" The applicant says, "No, I don't, but I volunteer at the Saskatoon Food Bank for three hours every week. I like doing it and it helps me improve my English. My supervisor there says that I'm a very good volunteer."
GOOD
The interviewer says, "Why should I hire you?" The applicant says, "You should give me the job because I really need it."
BAD
The interviewer says, "What are your strengths?" The applicant says, "I'm a quick learner. I'm also hard-working and friendly."
GOOD
The interviewer says, "Why should I hire you?" or "Why should I give you the job?" The applicant says, "Because it will help me get a better job at a different place soon. Maybe I will move to Toronto in July and find a better job there."
BAD
The interviewer says, "Why should I hire you?" The applicant says, "Because I did this kind of work in my first country for five years and I'm a fast learner. I can learn quickly how to do this job in Canada. I'm very hard working."
GOOD
The interviewer says, "Are you good at working with other people?" The applicant says, "I'm okay at it. Sometimes I like it."
BAD
The interviewer says, "Are you good at working with other people?" The applicant says, "Yes, I'm very good at it. I love working with other people. I'm friendly, and I like to help people."
GOOD
The interviewer says, "What are your weaknesses?" The applicant says, "My English isn't very good. Sometimes people don't understand what I say."
BAD
The interviewer says, "What are you weaknesses?" The applicant says, "I know that I need to improve my English. I'm working very hard to do that. I study English every day."
GOOD
The interviewer says, "Tell me about your skills." The applicant says, "I'm very good at driving, fixing cars and lifting heavy things."
GOOD
The interviewer says, "Tell me about yourself." The applicant says, "I like watching TV, and my favorite color is green."
BAD
