In humans, the female is the one who gets pregnant and carries the baby until it is ready to be born. The uterus is located in the pelvic region of a female human. At the bottom of the uterus, the cervix opens into the vagina. The other end of the uterus is connected to the fallopian tubes. The uterus is where the foetus develops during gestation. For humans, the gestation period is 9 months long. In humans, the male is the one who provides sperm to fertilise the ovum in a woman. Sperm and testosterone are produced in sex glands called testicles, or ' testes '. The testes are held outside of the male body, in a skin sack called the scrotum. It is located behind and underneath the penis. Keeping the testes outside of the body keeps them cooler, which is important for sperm production. The testicles are the most important part of the male reproductive system.
