Describe a New Moon Describe the First Quarter Moon Describe a Waxing Gibbous Moon Describe a Last Quarter Moon Describe a Full Moon Describe a Waning Gibbous Moon Describe a Waxing Cresent Moon Describe Waning Crescent Moon

During this phase, the side of the moon which is facing the Earth is not illuminated so the moon appears dark.. Half of the moon is visible in this phase for the first half of the evening. In this phase, most part of the moon is visible. It remains in the sky for the most of the night. Half of the moon’s lighted surface is visible. In this last quarter, the moon starts waning and less of it becomes visible.

The entire face of the moon can be seen from the Earth. This is the reason why it is called a Full Moon. It rises as soon as the evening begins and sets in the morning. Similar to Waxing Gibbous, in this phase also, more than half of the moon can be seen but the difference is that after this, the moon starts getting smaller in size every night. The moon begins to show as it starts the orbit. It appears in the sky as tiny silver light and can be seen each evening for a few minutes just after the sunset. During this phase, only a small silver light of the moon is visible to the observers on earth. It can be seen only just before the morning. The visibility period of moon decreases each night.
