Visiting a country home

Over the weekend, my husband and I visited some friends who live in the hills. It is quite exciting to get to their house because you first have to turn off the main road then travel along a smaller road. After a while you turn onto a very small road. Then the bitumen runs out and you are on a dirt road. Eventually that road turns into a narrow dirt track and when you get to the end of the track, you have arrived at their property. Because they live in the hills, they are at constant risk of bushfires so they have fifteen sheep to keep the grass short. They also have two horses and a dog. We took our dogs with us so they could enjoy a day running around in the country side. After a tasty lunch of beef stew, the men went to the shed to test some radio equipment while Helen and I walked down the front paddock to the lemon trees and picked some lemons for me to take home. After the men came back to the house, we all chatted for a while before it was time for us to leave. We said our goodbyes and headed back to the city in time for dinner. I always enjoy visiting Helen and Geoff but next time, they should come to our house so I can return their hospitality.
