Three Days on Ulleungdo This summer my dad and I visited Ulleungdo, the eighth largest island in Korea. This is my report of the three-day trip. DAY1 To visit Ulleungdo, we took a ship from Pohang in the morning. After three hours, we arrived at Dodong harbor, the main harbor of Ulleungdo. The captain said, "We are very lucky to have a sunny sky. The weather here is clear for only about 50 days a year." After we unpacked our bags, my dad and I went to the Squid Festival. We tasted different kinds of squid dishes. Around six o'clock, we took a boat and went squid fishing. It took about half an hour to get to the fishing spot. There were a lot of other boats. Their lights sparkled through the dark summer night. DAY2 Luckily, the weather was great again. We left for Dokdo. I could not wait to see it with my own eyes. After about an hour, we arrived. Finally I was on the east end of my country. The guards and a dog on the island greeted us. While I was playing with the dog, my father took some pictures of us. We stayed for only half an hour, but I felt I would remember my trip to Dokdo forever. In the afternoon, we went back to Ulleungdo and visited Nari Bunji. There were lots of beautiful trees and flowers. Dad said some of them grow only around Nari Bunji. It is a nice place for walking because it is flat, unlike other places. While we were taking a walk, we saw a traditional Ulleungdo house, a tumakjib. Dad said it was designed to withstand strong wind and heavy snow. It looked very interesting and I wondered what it would be like to live in it. DAY3 We got up early in the morning to visit Taeha Lighthouse. When I reached it, I felt as if I could touch the sky. From the lighthouse I could see the face of Ulleungdo: high cliffs, strange rocks, and the beautiful blue sea. We went back to Dodong harbor and said good-bye to Ulleungdo. I felt sorry to leave. A sea bird looked at me as if she understood how I felt. My memories of the island will stay in my heart forever. Let's Check Last summer, my family visited Uljin for two days. We rode bikes along the beach. We also took a walk in the Geumgangsong forest. We felt as if we were in a different world. We could smell the fresh air and we had lots of fun. We set up a tent and spent time talking together. We could hear birds singing outside while we were in the tent. It was such a wonderful experience.
