One Wednesday morning during the winter holidays my husband and I got up early and caught the 8.15 bus to Mt Gambier which is at the southern tip of the South East in South Australia. When we arrived that afternoon, my brother and his wife met us at the bus terminal and drove us to our motel. After we checked in they drove us to their new house. It was a few kilometres out of town on a three acre block. He has planted some citrus trees and a small vegetable patch. That evening we all went to a pub for a meal then we went back to the motel. The next day we walked around the town and looked in the shops. That town has many shops similar to Adelaide such as Spotlight, McDonalds, Coles and Priceline. Like all good country towns there were several bakeries so we indulged in some pies and pasties. I looked in several clothing shops but I didn't buy anything. The day after that, we met up with my husband's friend Peter and his wife Jen. They took us for a drive to Pt Macdonald and on the way back, they drove around the famous blue lake. Because it was winter, the lake was grey instead of blue. The next day was time to come home. We wheeled our luggage back to the bus terminal and bought some chips to eat on the bus. It was a nice holiday but I don't think I will go there again.
