Ocean currents play an important role in determining the climates of many regions of the Earth. These currents also influence the navigation and the nature and quality of marine organisms.
Target Language or Knowledge:
There are two basic types of ocean currents, surface currents, and deep water currents. Surface currents are the movement of water on or near the surface of oceans and are mostly driven by winds. Deep currents are the movement of water below the surface of the ocean and they are the result of density differences caused by temperature and salinity. These are the two main types of currents in our oceans.
