Global warming is causing sea levels to rise, which is becoming a serious problem for towns and cities near the coast in many countries. As the Earth's temperature goes up, ice in places like the Arctic and Antarctic is melting faster, which adds more water to the oceans. Warmer water also takes up more space, which makes the sea level rise even more. According to the U.S., National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), global sea levels have gone up by about 8 inches (21 centimeters) since 1880, and the rise is happening faster now than before. This rise in sea levels can lead to more flooding, the loss of land and homes, and can force people living near the coast to move away, Cities by the sea, such as Bangkok, Amsterdam, Ho Chi Minh City and New Orleans, are at great risk because of rising sea levels. Because of this, it’s really important to fight global warming to help protect against the dangers of rising sea levels.
