Some organizations have pictures or flags at workstations to indicate when a worker wishes not to be interrupted. An individual involved with a critical task that requires full concentration can display a red flag indicating that he or she does not want to be disturbed. A variation of this is a project participant who takes earphones to work not to listen to music but to create periods of concentrated time without interruptions. He notices that merely putting on the earphones hinders many from interrupting him. This means he can divide his day into periods when he is accessible and periods when he has to maintain full concentration without having his work interrupted.
