The globe is a model of the Earth. The Earth is shaped like a sphere. There are seven continents on Earth. There are five oceans on Earth. Longitude lines run North and South. Latitude lines run East and West. Longitude and Latitude lines create a grid so that you can locate any place on Earth. The Equator is located at 0 degrees latitude. A hemisphere means a half of the sphere of the Earth. A globe is better than a map to see the Earth because when you make a map flat it distorts how things look. United States of America is located in NorthAmerica. Canada and Mexico are countries located in the continent of NorthAmerica. The Caribbean is a group of small countries and commonwealths. A Commonwealth is a country that has its own government, but is very closely tied to another country's government. A political map is one that shows the different boundaries that exists between different countries. A landform is any formation on the land of Earth. For example, mountains, valleys, deserts, and canyons. A physical map shows the landforms of the Earth. An elevation map shows how much land is above sea level. The Cardinal directions are NorthSouthEastWest. A star is often used to show where a capital of a country is located. Compassrose is used to help you identify directions on a map. Map Legend is the guide that tells you what a number of symbols mean on a map. A ScaleBar is used on a map the measure distance. Ordinal directions are Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, Southeast. The five oceans are kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. The seven continents are sssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
