Many of Don's students have a problem with (1) "I like..." and  (2) "I'd like..." (= "I would like...").  These two things are NOT the same.   examples (= ex.): 1.  "I like to speak English with my friends."        =  "NOW I speak English with my friends.  I like it.  It's good."   2.  "I'd like to speak English with my friends."           = "I would like to speak English with my friends."           = "I want to speak English with my friends IN THE FUTURE." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.  A:  What do you like to do in your English class?     B:   I like to talk to other students and the teacher.      [I do it now.]   2.  A:  What would you like to do more in your English class?              (= What do you want to do more in your English class?)        B:  I'd like to practise writing more.         [in the future]        (= I would like to practise writing more.          = I want to practise writing more.)   NOTE:  "I'd like..." and "I would like..." are more polite than "I want ..."                    (ex.  "Please do it."  is more polite than "Do it.") ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

B: I'd like to go shopping and visit my friends.
What is the CORRECT / GOOD / RIGHT answer to this question? A: How much rent would you like to pay for your new apartment?
B: I would like to pay $1,400 a month or less. (ex. $1,300.)
What is the CORRECT / GOOD / RIGHT answer to this question? A: What would you like to eat? (at a restaurant)
B: I'd like to eat chicken and rice. (= I will order chicken and rice at a restaurant.)
Ask someone a question about where they would like to go shopping (in the future).
Where would you like to go shopping? ( = "Where'd you like to go shopping?")
Ask someone a question about what they like to do every day.
What do you like to do every day? (You do it now.)
What is the CORRECT / GOOD / RIGHT answer to this question? A: When would you like to go to the library? (about the future)
B: I'd like to go to the library tomorrow.
What is the CORRECT / GOOD / RIGHT answer to this question? A: What would you like your children to do? (in the future)
B: I'd like my children to be good students and have good jobs. (= I would like them to...) (= I want them to...)
What is the CORRECT / GOOD / RIGHT answer to this question? A: What do you like to do on the weekend?
B: I like to watch TV and play with my children. (every weekend)
Make a question. Ask someone what time they like to go to bed. (every night)
What time do you like to go to bed?
