A transparent covering called the _cornea,_ focuses _light_ as it enters the eye. As light enters, it passes through a small opening known as the _pupil_ . The _iris,_ moved by iris _muscles,_ opens and closes this _hole_ to regulate the amount of _light_ entering the eye. The _lens_ refracts and _focuses_ light onto the back of the eye, where the _retina,_ with its rods and _cones,_ is located. Information gathered by the eye _transmits_ to the _brain_ via the _optic_ _nerve._
