In 1803, George Howe printed Australia's first newspaper, the weekly Sydney Gazette. Ther first newspaper-style publication appeared in Germany in the late fourteenth century. Local news was delivered to an editor via a 'slip-box' hung outside the shop. News articles should report the who, what, when, where, why and how of an event. Articles can cover the full range of topics from sport to world politics. Magazines are different to newspapers because they deal with specific topics. Newspapers are usually printed on a daily or weekly schedule. Both magazines and newspapers use photographs to support their written articles. Classifieds may appear in both newspapers and magazines. People who read the same magazine regularly, may become subscribers.
