Flashcards: vegetables. This will be provided to my adult students. They will see a picture of a vegetable and they will point to its word. This is an informal assessment tool for my class.
Flash cards: The words for art used in class. The students will point to the correct word for each question. This is an informal assessment tool. I show them a circle and ask them to point to the correct word.
Cloze: These sentences are a summary of the previous days vocabulary, grammar, and class procedures. My students need to learn how to do such paperwork. After this is corrected they will copy all the sentences into their notebooks.
Fill-in-th-blank: These sentences describe what we do in class. The students will read, remember, and select the correct grammar or vocabulary that I'm working on in class. After all are correct they will copy the sentence with the correct word into their notebooks.
Handwriting: This is for adults learning to read and write English. I begin with the vowels. They learn to read the letter, its long and short sound, and the skill of tracing that will lead to writing letters.
Circle the correct word: I am now writing summary statements about what we do in class for the students to copy. This is to model correct use of specific verbs/vocabulary they are learning in class.
Choose the correct answer: I wrote a paragraph about "What we did in class yesterday" to review my lesson. The students must choose one word out of 3 to make the sentence correct. Once reviewed and corrected. The students will copy all the sentences into their notebooks. This is how I model correct Standard English for my students.
Grammar practice. This is an exercise to choose the correct word in a text. Once the exercise is reviewed with the teacher the students are instructed to rewrite the passage on the lines provided to learn the correct format for paragraphing. Students must indent each paragraph.
